Thanks Andrew,

I found something (eventually!) about this and I've put a meta tag to force
IE7 compatibility, a hack but it seems to make it work. It would have been
extremely useful and time-saving if there was a side note in the Google Maps
developer reference highlighting this issue and any possible workarounds. Is
this problem to get fixed, and is it an API/Javascript issue or an issue
with IE8 itself?
