Not necessarily better. Version 3 is primarily intended, as I understand it, for mobile devices. Version 2 is a more mature, more feature-rich, more stable [probably] product which is still being developed. That doesn't answer the question about whether reworking to v3 is hard, but sometimes it's better to take a step back and consider whether you really want version 3 in the first place.
