Do you mean that you do not wish the resultant polyline to be added to the map? If this is the case then omit the map parameter in the GDirections constructor.
Have you seen the reference material? http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/reference.html#GDirections Perhaps if you give a link to a map it will help us understand what you are trying to acheive.
