My question here is, why would you want to display all 1000+ markers all at the same time? What benefit would that have to your visiting client? Personally I would limit the markers based on a particular area. Say for example they want to look at properties in a particular neighborhood. I do have a project where I have thousands of markers in an XML file, however the map only displays those markers within a 1 mile radius from a specific address (search).
