I guess your images/blue.png image is slanted. Perhaps you're using an incorrect GIcon.iconSize setting, which might emphasise such a slant by stretching the image.
The Maps API never rotates, skews or tilts any images - there's no browser independent way to do that - all it can do is change the image size.
