You should add error handling so you can see why it is failing...
Mike Williams' tutorial page on directions has an example that
includes error handling:
Part 26 Get directions on your own map

Apparently the GDirections class no longer recognizes Duke Street,
Liverpool
But the geocoder does:
http://www.geocodezip.com/example_geo2.asp?addr1=Liverpool%20Airport&addr2=Duke%20Street,%20Liverpool&geocode=1&geocode=2
