Thats right, all information on the page is generated in a Lasso call
at the same time, and the markers have the same names as the farm
code. So I know what all the markers are called and what to show when
activated.

This may be a stupid question, but it is one thing I do not understand
and that is if the map...-object is accesable outside of the function
that creates the map. I have tried to call it in the function
openInfoMarker like this without any success:
    map.openInfoWindow(map.getCenter(), document.createTextNode
("Hello, world"));

When I put the same line in the initMap() function it works just fine.
What am I missing?

Hmmm... I agree with "... I think you may find the actual effect
pretty horrible ..." but my customer wants it to work like the swedish
Hitta.se service:
http://www.hitta.se/LargeMap.aspx?vad=retaurang&var=halmstad&searchPink=true&hitListUrl=%2fSearchMixed.aspx%3fvad%3dretaurang%26var%3dhalmstad

Anyhow, many thanks for taking the time and answer my questions :-)
