I was trying to look for a way to contact google for this question, but I was unable to find an appropriate place to post this question.
Basically I want to develop an application for Desktop that displays google maps. I would also like to develop and test an application for the iphone. My problem is that Google require you to have a public website before they give you a key. I don't have that. I just want to develop on my own desktop (localhost) before I put it on any website (If I even decide to put it on a web site) or on mobile phone. I read on wikipedia that Google Maps API v 3 does not require a key is this true. I didn't see a sign of this on their website. can someone please help me get started?
