We currently pay Google to display Google Maps on our site.

The maps are useful for our users as they show where rental properties
can be found via map browsing. Rental properties appear as drop-pins.

When users view the maps, they are often also interested in nearby
businesses. I'd like to include 'dots' on the maps that represent the
geocode of merchants using AdSense. If a user clicks on the dot, a
pop up would appear with the name of the merchant together with a link
to the merchants site. We'd receive AdSense revenue for the traffic
we send to merchant sites.

I know that there are already two ways to display advertising on
Google Maps: 1) In the GoogleBar at the bottom of the map; and 2) by
showing a Maps Ad Unit. Additional details located here for those
that are interested:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/services.html

I'd like to show ads this third way: via a 'dot' (small filled
circle). Is there a way I can do this?

Grateful for expert help.
