Right. I wasn't addressing the possible reasons why the key might be
failing. I just wanted to correct the misconception seen from time to time
on this group that Maps API keys just won't work on a private server that
isn't visible on the public Internet.

API keys for private servers do work and always have, and they are essential
for testing revisions to a site before pushing it out to your live public
site.
