So something has changed? It isn't the API; you must have made a
change which has broken it. Perhaps you added the image map?

The problem is that IE cannot see a difference between an element
labelled "Map" and one with id="map". Other browsers correctly
identify them as different. This means that IE cannot tell the
difference between <map id="Map"> and <div id="map"> and consequently
tries to do strange things to your image map.

The solution is to make sure that your element ids are *entirely* unique.
