Hi, I want to start a website which will focus on showing the directions, the exact distances, the bus and metro routes for a city. The directions and the exact distances with driving directions will be picked up from Google maps.
Here is how it will work: There will be a database of latitude and longitudes which will be mapped with the area names of that city. The end user will be provided a drop down to enter the area name in the source and destination textbox. Once these values are fetched from the user and the user clicks submit, he will then be directed to a page where a map with directions will be displayed and below it the driving directions, the bus routes and the metro routes will be displayed. There will also be information on the shopping areas and other attractions around that destination. This site will help the tourists and the people of the city to figure out the routes and to plan their outings in a better way. While reading the terms of service, I got confused because there is a lot of information about the maps usage and i am unable to understand whether building such a site would be in accordance to the terms or not. As far as I have gathered from the terms, since my site is free to use by anyone on the internet, it is also in accordance with the Google Maps policies. This is a concept which is not there on the internet (as far as i know) now. So I would request the moderator of this post to keep it confidential if possible. Thanks a lot. Google Maps rocks!!!
