Nobody really knows - probably even Google.

And predictions have a habit of being wrong, but here's mine:

As the deadline draws near Google will look at the usage of the v2
javascript api, and make a decision on how much it still used.

If small, it will just be turned off. A tear might be shed, who knows...

If medium (and the most likely outcome in my opinion), Google will
serve a 'interconnector' to v2 users. This will use v3 (or v4) under
the hood, but expose a basic V2 compatible interface. Simple
applications will still continue to work - and many wont notice the
difference. But advanced applications (using some of the lesser used
features, or undocumented behaviour) will start failing.

If large, then they may just continue to leave it running in its
depreciated state. Still no further development.



(they haven't really been updating - except for critical bugs, v2
pretty much since its depreciation)
