Nevermind, I discovered that I can remove markers using map.removeOverlay(gmarkers[i]) IF I add my markers using map.addOverlay(gmarkers[i]), NOT mm.addMarkers(gmarkers, 0,17). When I remove them using the markermanager, they keep coming back.
