I have a golf course mapped in Google Earth. I gave it to my web developer to put onto the course website, This map easily loads into my GPS app in my Android phone and allows me to see distance to the points I created (The Pins). It seems to work fine, but I have an issue with the distance display. The distance display says .5 miles, down to .1 miles and then at 500 ft jumps to feet, and counts down.
This is the link that opens the map in the gps in the phone... http://maps.google.com/?q=http://69.129.180.14:8080/mobile/countryside/course/course.kmz Without creating a complete app, is there a way to adjust this scale? I have it adjusted in Google Earth and it works fine, but I want it to act the same way in the GPS software. I would love to set a variable and have it display yardage from .5 miles to 100 feet and then show feet. If it can't be done with PHP or with the KML file, then is there a way to say adjust my GPS to act this way (either through a setting or patch)? If it is a GPS setting, at least it points me in a direction. Maybe this is something that Google is/or may want to address sometime, as it would open up a HUGE market for golf courses to give their maps to Google. My developer and I look forward to any suggestions.
