I have a Map that uses the G_SATELLITE_3D_MAP and a custom control. On Mac OSX 10.5.8 using Chrome everything works great. The control renders and displays nicely in BOTH Maps and Earth views.
BUT in Safari and Firefox 4 the custom control is buried beneath the Earth Plugin (making the control useless). This also happens in IE and Firefox on Windows. I don't have enough machines to test every possible combination, but it appears to be an issue between Browsers and OS (i think). I have several co-workers who are using Mac OSX 10.6.x and on those machines, Chrome, FireFox 4 and Safari work just fine (the Control remains on top of the Earth Plugin) Below is a sample I threw together using the Beefy Demo from (http:// code.google.com/p/earth-api-samples/source/browse/trunk/demos/mapsapi/ beefy.html?r=109). I augmented it to display the issue I am having. http://people.apache.org/~goodale/googleMapsTest.html When you switch to Earth Mode, you will see the small control on the Top Right get's covered up by the Earth Plugin. Again this effect seems to change between browsers and Operating Systems so your experience may differ. Has anyone else seen this behavior before, or have a fix for it?
