The url you gave only needs ll and z to create the map (ll gives the centre and z the zoom). If you don't have ll or z then things get a bit more complicated. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.725925,-74.317017&z=11 http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/staticmap?center=40.725925,-74.317017&zoom=11&size=640x640&maptype=hybrid&sensor=false Note that the size, type and sensor are all needed.
