The snippet you have shown there refreshes the page on a setInterval. That might not do what you expect, the page is destroyed/refreshed (including the interval timer) after the first interval. A setTimeout would seem more appropriate. The snippet may not show your whole application, but I can't see why you want to refresh at all. If you want to change the polyline colour after an interval, change the polyline colour. No need to refresh the page at all. If you must refresh, do as suggested at stackoverflow and use a cookie to remember last state between refreshes.
