There are an infinite number of such locations, you might need to refine the request a bit I guess you'd be looking for a (finite) number of alternative routes between A and B and determining the midpoint. Google's Directions service won't be very good at this, as it will try to find the "best" route A-B. You can force it try to go via a waypoint, so I guess you could increment a waypoint to ever increasing distances from the 'starter' midpoint and pick up when the route is both valid (your waypoint might be in the ocean) and different from a route you've examined before.
