What you say is just about what the Developers reference said.

However, there was nothing I could find on the console page to "enable V2" 
since on the services page the link *Google Maps API 
v2<http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/>
* brought up the *v3 page*.  If there's another page to "enable" a service, 
I couldn't find it.  When I do go back to the API Access page I just get 
the ID information I showed in my original post.

Try it.  That's the link.

I would *LOVE *to find out I'm making a dumb mistake.
