Googel havent announced anything. When V1 was turned off GMaps served a 'snub' version of the API, that just used V2 under the hood. This meant that many maps using V1 syntax continued to work, even though there wasn't actually a v1 anymore.
I imagine something similar will happen. But of course, the snub doesn't implement everything from V2, in fact there are a few features from V2 that are missing I think in V3, but at the very least many features work differently. And i doubt they will wrap everything. So everything but the most basic map implementation, will break. A map that just plots a marker on the map, will probably be OK, but anything much beyond that will fail. There really is no excuse, just update already. (I know I am a good one to talk, still have a number of apps using v2, although converted the most important ones already) On Wed, Aug 29, 2012 at 10:09 AM, Michał Drożdż <[email protected]>wrote: > How shutdown of google maps API v. 2 will be carried out. 5/20 all users > of app using old API will see kind of comunicate: "Contact with an admin - > he had 3 years to change api"? > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Google Maps API V2" group. > To view this discussion on the web visit > https://groups.google.com/d/msg/google-maps-api/-/afWrjJuZWboJ. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected]. > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/google-maps-api?hl=en. > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API V2" group.
