Hi all,

Maybe sounds a bit confusing, but the new Google Maps
Charts,
http://code.google.com/apis/chart/docs/gallery/new_map_charts.html#introduction,

supports the use of lat/lon to define zoom areas. I just got the idea of
using it as a source for tiles on Google Maps. The technique works very well
for thematic mapping. Not so much for the use of labels (obviously it was
not designed for this). But I think it makes for a fun hacjk that you can
find useful on some situations. Check it out:

http://vizzuality.s3.amazonaws.com/gmapcharts/haiti.html

Check out the source code, is really really simple.

There is a lot of cool things to do with the technique. But first of all I
am not sure if this is a fair use of the Map Charts API because of the heavy
use. So if someone from Google could confirm it would be awesome.

Have fun.

Javier.
