Your link does not work for me. Are you wanting to display a UK grid on top of Google maps / imagery ?
There is a V2 API solution here http://www.bdcc.co.uk/Gmaps/BdccGmapBits.htm which should port to V3 without too much work. When porting, better to use the more accurate lat/lon - east/north conversion code used here http://wtp2.appspot.com/warpdemo.htm.
