I've seen the announcement but can Google put forward someone who developers can talk with and discuss these changes. I can't understand the logic behind this decision which will force many developers at very short notice to cease using the Google Maps APIs.
Have alternative options been considered for semi-commercial developers such as ad-supported use of the API ? This works fine with much higher volumes on YouTube. There was a time when the Maps API team would discuss all aspects of the API in forums or by email, those days have gone. I'm hoping that some people within Google will see the reaction and realise the damage that this decision will cause to Google's reputation - see http://geoawesomeness.com/developers-up-in-arms-over-google-maps-api-insane-price-hike/ . It's not too late for Google to change course. They should delay the implementation period and consider alternative such as ad-supported access to the API. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "[deprecated] Google Maps JavaScript API v3.
