I notice that with the new "Share with" feature, unlisted albums that my friends share with me explicitly now shows up when I visit their Public Gallery on the web.
However, when using the API to retrieve their albums (using ClientLogin to authenticate myself), the unlisted albums do not show up. I am able to access the photos themselves by accessing http://picasaweb.google.com/data/feeds/api/user/username/album/albumname with the same ClientLogin auth. So, basically, the API seems to require an out-of-band mechanism to know the album name or id before it can be accessed.
