To Fabrice et al- Unhappily I'm not competent to work on this, but I have 2 specific suggestions:
1. Merely allow a sort-by-tag-ascending or sort-by-tag-descending operation IF & only if a tag is present in the exact form of dd/mm/ yyyy; all other tags would be ignored in sort-by-tag. Sort first by yyyy, then by mm and lastly by dd. If no such tag is present for a given image, just put the image at the end of the group. You might also allow for dd/ being missing: in many instances the "dd" is not available for a given photo. But sometimes, a fictitious "dd" could be entered prior to sorting so as to order photos, as might be desired, within a given month. If identical dd/mm/yyyy entries are encountered during the sort, locate the images for those in the order in which they are sorted. 2. For sorting, i.e. organizing, the albums themselves as they appear at Home and My Photos, implement the following: under "Edit album information", a) change "Date" to read "Order, ascending", b) sort the album positions by the single number--from 1 to 999--to be entered in that box, and c) eliminate the display of that item on the Home or My Photos page (both the date and the 1-999 number are information superfluous to the display). If no such number is entered, just place the album at the end of the display in the order in which it was scanned. To make this >really< convenient, allow for a ".xx" to be appended to any such number and sort secondly by that if it is present. That way, up to 99 photos could be added as required, anywhere along the series and at any subsequent time, merely by adding the .xx and re-sorting. Again, if identical sort-numbers are encountered, locate the images for those in the order in which they are sorted. Although no programmer, I'd think these changes could readily be implemented in PicasaWeb. They would make it >vastly< easier to do the sorting. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Picasa Web Albums API" group.
