Ah, I think I understand now. The authkey is a unique identifier that gives you access to a specific album, but does not give you general access to private albums. It seems you were trying to get around the problem that your authentication doesn't appear to be making it into your request headers.
One way to make sure your auth headers are set is to make a query for an "only you" album. If your request is not authenticated, it won't work, but if it is then the album feed will work fine. I'll take a look at your code sample again this afternoon. I wasn't able to get t working last time, but I'm not very good with PHP.
