I appear to be happily mistaken that one can't request 'latest updates' from 
a feed. This is a standard part of the GData protocol at 
http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/docs/2.0/reference.html#Queries  That 
might impact on your decision to push from onEdit().  But I'll look at that 
too.
