I had the same problem happen to me yesterday.  I could be wrong but it 
could be because of the Spreadsheet API version being used.  For me anyway, 
I was using V3 and getting creds from a P12 file.  Some of the post seen 
out there seem to be quite old; I am currently trying V4 of the API to see 
what happens.  This is probably not too helpful to you, perhaps it can help 
steer you in the right direction.
