Hey Peter,
Dreamhost says because of Google Apps in the panel, DH partially adds
the domain to the Google Apps account. Although it doesn't register
domain for Google Apps, Google does add that domain to their jabber
server which conflicts with DH server. To solve the problem, one has
to register the domain for Google Apps and then disable the Google
Talk.
