I think that translators would be much better if they could provide the user with help understanding a translation. Often times, you type in a sentence to be translated, and after you receive a translation, you might not have a good enough grip on the language to understand parts of the translation (or the program mistranslated something and confused the user).This often leads me to translate the words one at a time since Google Translate provides more information on one word translations. I think the future of translating software would be one that gives you a dynamic translation: one that provides the user with more information on the different fragments that make up a translation. For example, putting the mouse over any word in the translated sentence could bring up a small popup box that says what word it was translated from, provides the user with alternative translations for the word, and even lets the user swap the word with one of those other translations. This would enable people to work with the translation more, and understand its parts, before they copy it and paste it into a discussion with someone or some sort of work. Eventually, maybe the translator could even provide users with explanations for parts of the translation. If a user wants to translate "I'm going there to eat" to Spanish, and gets "Voy a alli para comer", it could have a more info section, or use a mouseover pop up again that explains that the "para" acts as "in order to", since any time you are suggesting "in order to [this verb]" in English, you must use para in Spanish. I think this would greatly improve Translate.
