yes, that's why google translate is very limited and often gives
extremely bad translations.
there are better automatic translation technologies that try to
recognize the grammar and context. i don't know why google choose a
translation technology that is very limited by its design.
sometimes google translations are so funny that you wonder if the
translator is capable of humour :)
