I'm sorry to have to say this but I think your office is right. There are a number of highly sensitive political issues where there has been almost intentional mistranslation. Country names are not translated corrected. The US has committed atrocities in Burma despite the fact that it has had no troops in the area since the end of the Vietnam war, The US BTW won in Vietnam!
Arabic is either SVO or SOV. Only Google Arabic is ever OVS. Yet when an Israeli settler killed a Palestinian Google translated it as Palestinian kills Israeli. Whenever people request Latin I always say "Colonus Palestinium interfecit" In Latin the order is flexible since - us and -um describe who is killing who. Personally I prefer strictly literal translations guided by LSA. Arabic, in particular, can appear a little tortured but the meaning is always clear.
