I am able to translate "ice cream" into 冰淇淋 , but I am not able to find the Chinese characters when I type the pinyin together or or when I one or two syllables of pinyin. So, the translation works when going from English to simplified Chinese, but it does not work when going from pinyin to English.
The Android application "Hanping Chinese Pro" translates ice cream in both directions.
