I agree that displaying pinyin below the simplified characters would
be very useful for non native speakers.  I know that that modern
pinyin system is not as accurate and should be used as a guide, but it
is very useful.  I need the pinyin to save time and be more
efficient.  Is there a software patent that the holder will not
license or is too expensive to license?  I don't think that it is
computationally expensive or requires too much storage.
