Is it possible to configure the Y axis display properties? In the example on http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/annotatedtimeline.html you can see the lines cross over the the actual axis values. The axis on a simple line chart (http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/ documentation/gallery/linechart.html) looks a lot better.
