I noticed and reported a similar problem a while back. Which trails switched on it was even worse. Firefox 'accumulated' almost 1 Gig of memory (and probably would have more if it could).
Back then I first thought that Motionchart has a memory hole somewhere. Still, I finally concluded that my laptop was simply run out of memory and that Motionchart simply needs a lot of memory.
