The functionality of each option is described in the
documentation<http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/annotatedtimeline.html#Configuration_Options>.
You can also easily try to play with the visualizations at the playground:
http://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/#annotated_time_line to see how
each parameter effects the chart.

As for your question. Setting this flag to false completely remove the
bottom part of the chart. By default, this flag is set to true and then the
first serie is displayed in the bottom part of the chart.
