It is great to see that the you enjoy the library.

There are no plans to open source it at this time. As for the offline
aspect, we do get this request from time to time, but we don't have any
immediate plans to implement it.

As for the open protocol, you can read about it in the "Creating
Visualizations<http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/dev/index.html>"
section of the documentation.
