I am using the visualization toolkit from a GWT application using the visualization api version 1.1.2-rc. It has been working flawlessly for months. Until this morning.
When I restarted my application this morning, instead of my ScatterChart a little red rectangle with the text 'error' appeared. That's all, just 'error', no details. Since I did not deploy a new version, I must conclude that it has something to do with the new 17 august release. Without an option to switch back to the old version, I could do nothing but try and find the cause of the error. After tinkering around a bit, I managed to discover the cause of the error. But Google did absolutely nothing to put me on the right track. A little red rectangle with the word 'error' and absolutely NOTHING in any log file or DevMode console or wherever I could think to look. It is like being dumped in the middle of the Amazon with a rusty compass and flashlight without batteries. Second thing I would like to get off my chest is that it is unacceptable that you simply dump a new version upon us without choice or option to keep on using the old version. If undermining the loyalty of your users is the goal, then this is definitely the way forward. After this experience I know I can not recommend the Visualization Toolkit to a client, since no company that I know of would accept this sword of Damocles hanging over their heads. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Visualization API" group.
