Would it not be smart to announce that on the documentation page and also 
as message part of the 502 BAD Gateway?? response which indicates some 
other error. Noone will be able to understand that correctly. Everybody 
will wait til it shows up again.

It is really an uphill battle to fight against deprecations.
As Google Appengine customer I have a VERY long list of APIs to replace.
