If you're writing a gadget uou should be able to oauth like this:
http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/oauth.html

And then use the wave data api like this:
http://code.google.com/apis/wave/extensions/wavedataapi/index.html

You don't need a gadget container, but it'll make life easier.
Otherwise you'll be stucking using the JS OAuth library, which is
pretty hair, and needs to be proxied manually.
