General Comment: Re the default reporter, I've experienced a lot more pain related to mutable static fields than benefit. People can already provide their own reporter per instance, so it's not like they can't customize things. Although I am wondering why I made it public rather than private. That seems wrong headed--it's not like it does anything. I'll make it private unless you guys object. Re: definition list, please let's make a change like that all at once rather than introduce inconsistency, and be more careful about our use of the auto formatter.
