Text in a *TextBox *gets rendered as HTML. Yet *TextBox *is not a rich-text component; it does not implement *HasHTML.*
*TextBox* becomes a span in the HTML, which renders as *abc*xyz. <span class="text viewableValue"><b>abc</b>xyz</span> See image. I'd expect it to render literally as <b>abc</b>xyz Does anyone know what GWT is doing?
