Position: VP Development, Development Team Lead for Credit User Interfaces & Local Development Support Location: NYC Salary: Depending on experience Position summary * A lead Java & Oracle developer, building and managing a new New York- based team of 2-4 developers as part of a wider global team of 15-20 developers, developing and maintaining a credit pricing system for a financial services company. * This role will have functional responsibility for the building a brand new user interface for our client's Credit Derivatives service, and have regional support responsibilities for our established Credit Derivatives pricing system. * Ideal role for an experienced developer with team/project leadership experience looking to manage a larger team and contribute to the management of our client's flagship data product. Duties & accountabilities * Implementation of financial services software using Java/J2EE, Google Web Toolkit and Oracle technologies, leading a small team of developers. * The role will be expected to provide technical architecture & design leadership, and mentoring and direction to junior developers/graduates in the team using Java and Oracle technologies. * Responsibilities will include coding, providing design leadership, code reviews, mentoring and managing your team’s performance against agreed goals and deliverables. Business Competencies/Experience * The right candidate will have a very strong academic background with a degree or equivalent in a numerate discipline. * Solid proven track record in professional programming. * A proven track record in Java/J2EE design and implementation experience essential, including object-oriented design patterns. * Experience developing with Google Web Tool and a track record of building attractive, flexible and feature-rich web user interfaces * Strong experience with an enterprise-grade relational database management system, preferably Oracle * Track record of architecting robust, scalable, systems required. * Experience with highly numeric applications advantageous. * The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record actively contributing to the implementation of innovative, best-practice-based, technical solutions in a complex and challenging environment * Experience leading a small team of developers. Direct line management experience useful, but non-line management team leadership/ project leadership experience is applicable to this role. * Financial Markets Knowledge essential. * Experience with streaming market data essential. * Knowledge of Credit Derivatives (including Credit Default Swaps), and wider Fixed Income knowledge highly advantageous.
