Thanks manuel for your reply. I tried gwtupload. It was not working for me but I suspect it was because of the configuration. Since I am very close to my goal using the files I currently have, I would like to be able to make this very simple example work and understand how it works before going into more complicated things. The upload is working fine so far in hosted mode, but still no luck with the website on the server. I have another question. At the beginning of this thread you told to twittwit to use item.getName() to get the name of the file he wanted to upload. However for me, getName() and getFieldName() both return the name of the field which is uploadFormElement in my case.
