I have a similar issue with translations in shared code.

Is there any way to know if the code is running on server side or
running in client side?

For example:

if (isRunningOnClient) {
   Window.alert(myConstants.hello());
} else if (isRunningOnServer) {
   System.out.println(myResources.getString("hello"));
}
