Try http://code.google.com/eclipse/docs/install-from-zip.html I also had to uninstall the stuff from instantiations such as GWTDesigner, windowsBuilder etc. [help --> install new software --> "what is already installed -- uninstall GWTDesigner, windowsBuilder etc.] All three items (2.2 plugin, 2.2 gwt, AE 1.4.2) installed just fine.
