I find a cellList ok. The problem come with key navigation. With celllist I think you can just us Up and Down arrows and when you use a float or inline-block pressing up and down you move to right or left. The cell table doesn't resolve the problem because it works with rows.
The other think I don't really understand is why to use a cell with image. I would just build a cell per image.
