Override the CellList styles (pass an overridden CellList.Resource to the constructor) to add the appropriate CSS properties to cellListEvenItem and cellListOddItem. I'd recommend using display:inline-block instead of float:left though; have a look at the com/google/gwt/resources/client/inline-block.css for a cross-browser implementation.
